Minimalistic and cost-effective ideas for Artwork in your home

I’m not sure why but, finding artwork for my house that both my husband and I loved and that didn’t break the bank was hard.  Due to that we didn’t have any artwork we just had clocks to start with.  A house full of clocks was not the look I wanted, but I always knew the time.  So when I saw what one of my best friends did with her wedding and baby photos I got an idea with my own wedding photos.  I found that Walmart.com had cheap artwork options in the way of mounted photos. Originally, I wanted canvas, but it can get pricey fast depending on the size and I wanted large photos.  I decided to try mounted pictures and love the outcome, plus the price was more reasonable.

It was so simple to do, it just required a few steps. 1. Log onto Walmart.com 2. Select Photo & Personalized Shop under “departments” 3. Select “Home Décor” then select “Wall Décor” and “mounted photos” 4. Once that is done you simply download the photos you want from your desktop or files and upload them to the Walmart site and create your mounted photo by selecting the size etc.

I made all my original prints black and white so they would match all the paint in my house.  The prints turned out so well and cost effective I decided to start taking photos of things I like or collect and try to blow those up onto mounted pictures.   I collect antique cameras and thought they would look cool in photographs. I took photos from various angles until I had a few that I liked. Check out the photo at the beginning of this blog the series of 3 photos of older cameras.  I’ve also added some photos below I made into wall mounted prints. Check it out.

The 12 x 12’s each cost about $15, I’ve also taken photos of family and turned those into black and white so rather then put photos in frames around the house they became artwork.  Since I’ve done this I haven’t changed out my artwork after 4 years I still love the look and when I changed my wall color the mounted photos still looked great. Before I bought wall art I liked, but didn’t LOVE, because of that I always wanted to change it and would take the old stuff to Goodwill to donate them.  Not only was this a waste it was expensive.  Part of having an organized space and life is reducing the “stuff” that’s in it!

Hope this gives you some ideas on how to surround yourself with the items you really love.

XOXO
